Utah

Here are some pictures from Taryn & my trip to Provo Salt Lake City Utah. Taryn did amazingly well at her regional meet, and will be heading to Spokane for Western Nationals! She got third place all-around in her division (out of more than 20), with a score of 36.450.
We had fun. We got to see Mormon Temple Square, the Capital building (which was under construction), Utah Olympic Park where the 2002 Winter Olympics were held, BYU, and plenty of Utah Valley State College's McKay's event center...
Blow-up Mormon Missionary Man!

Williamsburg trip

For Ben's spring break, Ben & I had the opportunity to travel to Williamsburg. We stayed at a bed & breakfast about a half mile from historic downtown Williamsburg and across the street from the gorgeous campus of The College of William & Mary. We drove up on Sunday evening.

On Monday, we went to Busch Gardens. Ben wouldn't let me take my camera, so we don't have any pictures, but it was a lot of fun. The lines were super short, and we never waited longer than 20 minutes for a ride, and that was doubled due to "technical difficulties." It was a lot of fun and we had been on all the rides by around 5, so we headed out. We found a great place (in Ben's bottomless pit stomach's eyes) for dinner, called Captain George's- a seafood buffet, with something like 70 items, including crab legs, shrimp, fish... we ate sooo much food!

On Tuesday, we went to the Jamestown Settlement and to Colonial Williamsburg. The old houses and buildings were amazing. At both places, the "settlers" were dressed in period wear, and were performing tasks from the time. The people were very knowledgeable about the history of the time and of their tasks.

It was a lot of fun and very relaxing. We had a great time, with perfect weather.

Cute sheep were all over in Williamsburg!

A baby sheep!

Bluebells.

Moo cows.

The Bruton Parish Church- the longest continuously operating church in America. The present structure was erected in 1715. There are people buried beneath the floor...

Pretty pansies.

Beautiful flowers.

A colonial garden in Williamsburg.

The Governor's Palace, home to seven royal governors, Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson.

The Capitol building. The Capitol of the new colony "Virginia" was held here from 1705 to 1779.

One day, we're going to live here.

Dogwood trees are my favorites.

Dinner, anyone? Salted meat hanging in the Jamestown Fort.

I have nothing to say.

We went to dinner at Captain George's Seafood Buffet. All you can eat- Ben was in heaven!
